First College Apartment Necessities

August 3, 2018 by Susan Paige

Many students go to college and do not live on campus at a University or they choose to go to a community or Junior college.

This requires moving out.

No more of mom’s lasagna every Thursday and laundry magically appearing on your bed clean and folded.

So what do you absolutely need for your first place that is in the budget?

Dishes

They don’t have to be fancy just functional and always have a bowl for ramen.

For dishes on a budget, I like to check thrift store or the dollar store.

Microwave

A college student on the go always needs a microwave.

You never know when you will need to reheat last night’s pizza at 3am during a cram session.

It is amazing what you can make in a microwave.

Pinterest is full of mug cake and bread options that only take a few minutes from start to finish in a microwave.

If a microwave holds little interest for you or you need more cooking options a toaster oven can be an amazing replacement.

Bedding and Furniture

There is a reason your mother yelled at you every week to change your sheets.

It is unsanitary to sleep on a bed without sheets.

Sheets can be taken off and washed but the material a bed is made out of must last us for years with minimal maintenance.

For sheets and other decorating needs, I find it easiest and the most-budget friendly to use an online deal site like Sello.

Sello helps you to find new products, sales, and get the best discount codes currently available.

Cleaning supplies

Regular maintenance of the living area can make life less troubled.

Our brains do better in a clean environment especially when it is time for a study session.

Keeping your home clean will also help your health allowing you to miss fewer classes and not get behind in your school work.

Make a list in order of the most urgent needs and moving in will be less stressful.
