If you follow the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) or even boxing you have heard the name Conor McGregor. For the most part, McGregor’s name is also associated with an extremely successful career. In fact, he’s won most of his fights. He’s also known for having a bit of an attitude, something that has been seen in the spotlight more recently.
McGregor announced months ago that he would box Floyd Mayweather for the world boxing title. McGregor, who isn’t a boxer at all, is pretty confident that he will cream Mayweather. Either way, both fighters will get paid handsomely for the pay-per-view event. So, what is Conor McGregor’s net worth and how much will he make from this fight?
Who is Conor McGregor?
The first thing you should know about McGregor is that he is Irish (and proud of it). He was born in Dublin in 1988 and has always been in-your-face about his heritage.
Another thing McGregor has never been shy about is the fact that he is good at what he does. As with most fighters, he began as an amateur fighter in 2007 and worked his way into the professionals within a year. By 2013, he was signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship and since then he has gone head-to-head with dozens of fighters (and usually winning).
He’s not only winning his fights but he’s also bringing in a ton of cash for UFC. Throughout his years as a fighter McGregor has established himself as the biggest pay-per-view draw. He has been the main event at four of the six highest-earning UFC pay-per-view events in history. In fact, his headliner fight facing Nate Diaz had the most buys for a UFC fight ever.
There is no doubt he is popular for his fighting style as well as his attitude, which has led him to his upcoming event. McGregor is (and has been for some time) a professional mixed martial arts fighter, however, he’s now going to go head-to-head in a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. So, how will this latest publicity stunt impact Conor McGregor’s net worth?
Conor McGregor’s Net Worth
According to The Independent, McGregor is one of the top 25 highest earning athletes in the world. The fighter’s net worth is estimated to be anywhere from $30 to $120 million and he makes more than $30 million each year.
The upcoming boxing match with Floyd Mayweather will be his highest-paying gig so far though. If McGregor is able to come out on top he will be paid $75 million for the single fight. He has already made about $27 million from the UFC this year, not to mention the additional $7 million or so he’s earning from endorsements and sponsors.
As the 29-year-old fighter has pointed out numerous times, he’d be crazy not to take the fight with Mayweather. It will literally double Conor McGregor’s net worth if he’s able to win (and he’ll still get paid millions if he doesn’t). Not many people think McGregor is going down though, so don’t be surprised if you continue to see him and his wealth continue to rise.
